SHOPPING DAY at DFO Brisbane

Our dedicated and friendly Support Workers will be there to assist you in making the most of your shopping experience, ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable day. With a wide variety of stores to explore—ranging from homewares and footwear to fashion and designer labels—there’s something for everyone, no matter your style or budget.
Take a well-deserved break and enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the many food outlets, giving you time to recharge before diving back in for more great finds. FISHING – get outdoors, enjoy the fresh air and have a go at catching a fish!
Fishing is a favourite activity for many of our participants — and our staff enjoy it just as much!
Our fishing excursions are about much more than catching a fish. They’re a chance to spend time outdoors, try something new, build confidence and independence, and enjoy a relaxed day with friends and our support team.
The Sunshine Coast is home to some fantastic fishing locations, from peaceful river estuaries and sandy beaches to beautiful hinterland dams. We visit a variety of locations, choosing the right spot and experience to suit each group.
Some of our favourite fishing locations include:
- River fishing – Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Maroochy River and the upper Noosa River.
- Beach fishing – Try your luck along the beaches at Mudjimba and around Palmerstone Passage at Caloundra.
- Hinterland dams – Explore the beautiful Borumba and Ewan Maddock Dams, where you may have the chance to catch Australian bass, golden perch and even Saratoga. A permit is required for fishing at these locations.
Whether you’re an experienced angler or have never held a fishing rod before, everyone is encouraged to join in, have a go and enjoy the experience.
There’s plenty of time to learn new skills, share a laugh, enjoy a picnic or chat with friends while taking in the beautiful Sunshine Coast surrounds.
